A virtual machine is an emulation of a computer system. Virtual machines are based on computer architectures and provide functionality of a physical computer. (Wikipedia)

I use VirtualBox for my visualization of operating systems. (See VirtualBox wiki for more)

VirtualBox vs Hyper-V

This is not the Windows only stuff you see on Windows'10. Once you've tasted Unix and/or Apple, there's no looking back

BTW : If there is anyone out there who's trying to get Hyper-v to work, please tell me if you know how to stop MS from breaking it!- every time Windows runs an update. My VirtualBox never breaks, but this MS-stuff

Notes

  • The level of Java and NetBeans we are working with will work well on a Windows'XP virtual machine
  • My Hyper-V has issues- there is a openSUSE here that I'd like to get to!
